Pre-Qualification Notice to All Potential Bidders

McKissack & McKissack/Turner Construction/Tompkins Builders, Inc./Gilford Corporation, Inc. Joint Venture will be bidding the following:

Project: Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial
On the National Mall in Washington, DC

The Washington, DC Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Inc and the Design-Build Joint Venture Team are committed to maximizing minority subcontractor participation on the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial.  In keeping with the overall mission and principles of the Memorial Project, special consideration will be given to those MBE firms or firms with considerable MBE participation which meet the subsequent criteria.  Please read the information carefully to learn how to become part of this historic project. 

Companies interested in bidding the Memorial Project must pre-qualify with the Design-Build Joint Venture.  As a requirement of the bid proposal, all bidders shall include a copy of the cover page to the completed pre-qualification application and a bid bond.  Please note that any proposal received without a completed pre-qualification and bid bond will not be considered.  Bid dates will be issued shortly, it is therefore imperative that interested parties proceed with the pre-qualification process immediately.

To pre-qualify your company for the Memorial Project please provide the following:

1. Visit www.turnerconstruction.com to fill out the online pre-qualification application
2. Provide copies of your Company’s OSHA 300 and 300A logs for the last three years
3. Provide third party verification of your Company’s EMR (Experience Modification Rate) for the last three years (this verification can be in the form of a letter from your insurance carrier or your NCCI forms)
4. Provide a copy of your most recent audited financial statements.

To ensure that your company is included on the bidder’s list please confirm your interest by sending an email to mlk@tcco.com. Please include the following information in your correspondence:

• Company Name
• Trade
• Contact Person
• Phone & Fax Numbers
• Email and mailing addresses
• Business Certifications (SBE, MBE, WBE, etc)

If you believe that your company is currently pre-qualified please verify that the pre-qualification is current. Please be sure to submit your interest NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 12, 2008.

In the near future you will be contacted to confirm your interest in the Memorial Project and to verify that the pre-qualification process is under way.  All interested bidders will receive a bid invitation with instructions on how to access an ftp site contain drawings, specifications, scopes and other required bid documents. Additionally, invitations will be extended to a pre-qualification workshop to be held in August for assistance with questions and inquiries regarding the Memorial and the pre-qualification process.
