DC Faith-Based Initiative

Dear Friend,

I am hoping you will help me convey a unique message to your congregation. I am appealing to you to join our efforts to build a memorial on the National Mall to the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; a man of peace and a man of God.

We are within seventy percent of our fundraising goal of $100 million. We have conducted major faith-based fundraising outreach efforts in cities across the country such as Chicago, Detroit, and Houston. Their efforts were successful resulting in significant contributions. However, since the Memorial is located in the nation's capital, I think it is befitting that we play an even larger role in this fundraising effort. I think you would agree with this.

I am requesting that you take an offering in support of the Memorial. We believe that residents in the metropolitan area are sensitive to Dr. King and his legacy and they will want to participate in this wonderful endeavor.

Included on this site are faith-based materials that give more detailed information about this initiative. Also, the Memorial Foundation can provide your congregation or church with two enjoyable videos upon your request; one telling the remarkable story of our journey to build a lasting memorial to Dr. King, and the other is a virtual tour of the Memorial.
